São Pedro’s Popular festivities

São Pedro (Saint Peter) is a popular and nationally celebrated saint, whose celebration takes place on the 29th of June. In Ponta Delgada, these festivities’ organization is in the hands of the civil parish with the name of this saint − São Pedro – and are held in Alameda Duque de Bragança, also known as Relvão.

Fado, Tunas (traditional music ensembles of the Portuguese universities), Rock, Pop, and Folklore are part of the musical scene to be found in these festivities. One can also find several kiosks and food stands where barbeque and the local grilled sardine are the main specialties.
