Ponta Delgada’s Christmas program

The opening of the street’s decorative illumination and Christmas events start in the month of November, and go up until January of the New Year. These are a part of a broad sociocultural and solidarity program of events, which take place all over the city.

The illumination and Christmas decorations in the main arteries of the historical city center, as well as the holiday’s traditional music heard in the streets, are an excellent excuse for stores to close later on the weekends.

The Mini-Bus (a public transportation grid of small buses within Ponta Delgada) extends its active hours, and in December, all Saturdays before Christmas, parking in general is free within the historic center.
