Mother Teresa of Anunciada
She was born in 1678 in São Pedro, Ribeira Grande, and died in São José, Ponta Delgada, in 1738. Her remains are in the lower choir of the chapel of Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres. Mother Teresa was a nun of the Order of Santa Clara and a great devotee of the image of the Santo Cristo dos Milagres. She was also the founder of the Feast in his honor, today the greatest of the Azores and one of the largest in Portugal. Inside the Church of Our Lady of Hope there are several panels of tiles that depict aspects of her life, from birth to death.
The bronze sculpture is by Euclides Vaz (1916-1991).
