Teófilo Braga

He was born in Ponta Delgada in 1843, in the street that has his name, and died in Lisbon in 1924. He was the author of a vast literary work, professor at the University of Coimbra and later President of the Government and President of the Portuguese Republic.

The bust was offered by the Municipality of Lisbon to the city of Ponta Delgada, being the author sculptor Teixeira Lopes (1866 - 1942). This bust was first in the Estrela Garden, in Lisbon.
