José Gomes Pereira

José Gomes Pereira was born on April 25, 1937, in the parish of Feteiras. He studied at the Episcopal Seminary where in 1961 he was ordained priest.

He was pastor on the island of São Jorge. In 1967, he entered the Intensive Course for Military Chaplains at the Military Academy of Lisbon, having integrated the Infantry Battalion stationed in Angola, where he remained until 1969. He was a professor of Religion and Morals at the Arrifes Preparatory School and parish priest in Feteiras until his death on January 21, 1999.
