José de Canto Botanical Garden

In the 19th century, José do Canto imported the project for this green space from London. In the garden, open to the public, stands José do Canto Palace, one of the last buildings to be built in the purest Palladian style in the twentieth century, and the largest and most relevant construction of the sort in São Miguel. It’s also a venue for parties and events.
