Mártires da Pátria Square – São Sebastião

This square or garden had, over the centuries, several place names, among them Terreiro do Paço of the Ribeira Grande Counts, for being next to the once existing Paço, now occupied by the Fonte Bela Palace. There was also in this square the Church of St. Matthew, which was located on the east side.
