Church and Convent of Santo André - Parish of São Sebastião
Founded in the 16th century, in 1567, by Diogo Vaz Carreiro and his wife, this building underwent several changes throughout the centuries: was part of the Order of San Francisco and a St. Clare Convent, the second one in Ponta Delgada. It is one of the most beautiful convents in the city, with a single nave church displaying frescoed walls and ceilings, a low and a high choir, a pipe organ and a seating area. Since 1930, it houses one of the three Carlos Machado Museum centers, the others being Santa Bárbara and the Sacred Art one.
