Bandstand of Covoada

Bandstands appear in England in the 18th century, in romantic gardens, displaying some oriental elements. After the Revolution, France imports the model and adapts it. Bandstands proliferated throughout Europe with the liberal revolution of the 19th century as a symbol of democratization of music and a stage for speakers. Today, they are part of collective memory, having hosted events that range from children's games to concerts and social gatherings. As elements of "urban furniture", they mark the history and evolution of thirteen parishes of Ponta Delgada.
