Town Hall of Ponta Delgada

Dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, the building has lateral pilasters, ‘avental’ windows and diamond tips, a staircase in the center with two lateral flights. Similarly to other town hall buildings, such as Ribeira Grande and Vila Franca do Campo, the Ponta Delgada Town Hall has a bell tower displaying a royal coat of arms dating from 1728, although the tower was built previously.

In the 1940s this property was to be demolished but was saved by the intervention of the inhabitants, influenced by Carreiro da Costa and other conservatives, thus remaining in its function.
